FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Kids Programs

What to expect:

A whole lot of happy! Sessions with start and end with a time to come together and share and listen.

  • Most days will start with a facilitated activity such as a new skill or bush craft or led nature walk, and always a safety talk.

  • There will then be time for nature challenges and free choice within a set boundary.

  • We will eat our snack at 9:30am and lunch at 12pm.

  • Finish with a shared warm drink, where permission has been given, and or a fire.

As we strive to be child led, all activities are for children to choose to do, and will be available to select and revisit at next sessions. Children can take up activities in their own time, re-visiting ideas therefore allows for their own pace in learning and playing. More complex activities will only be introduced when the Forest School Leader feels the children are ready. Some activities we do are:

  • Learning knots and lashings, Bush craft, shelter building

  • Collecting sticks, making up games with them

  • Insect hunting and identification, Science investigations

  • Mindfulness sensory observations

  • Fire lighting (possible, depends on group and relationships)

  • Tool use (possible, depends on group and relationships)
